Independent model research guide
This independent guide helps California owners organize a model-specific warranty and repair record. It does not claim that every vehicle sharing this name has a defect or qualifies for relief.
A model name can cover multiple years, trims, engines, batteries, and software generations. Match every source to the VIN, in-service date, and exact configuration.
Model-aware documentation
These are investigation prompts, not statements that the model has each problem. Select only the categories that match the actual vehicle and repair orders.
Document unavailable features, false alerts, braking or steering interventions, sensor conditions, and dealer test results.
Describe pulling, noise, vibration, loss of assist, uneven response, and any effect on predictable control of the vehicle.
Track weak cooling or heating, odors, intermittent operation, ambient conditions, and parts or refrigerant work performed.
Photograph the location and resulting damage, note weather conditions, and preserve any leak testing or body-repair findings.
Record the operating conditions, warning messages, speed, temperature, and whether the concern returned after repair.
Note hesitation, harsh engagement, slipping, vibration, or loss of response and the exact conditions in which it occurs.
Official records. Practical context.
A warning light, persistent condensation and an unusual suspension noise call for different checks. These NHTSA records help you identify the relevant service information and keep it separate from a safety recall or an unverified owner report.

Model year 2021
The 2021 ILX records span several distinct service concerns. Repeated dealer messages sought vehicles or parts for examination, while separate bulletins addressed gauge communication and headlight moisture. Those are different kinds of information: an inspection request is not a finding that every ILX has the condition. Use the symptom and diagnostic code on your own repair order to select the relevant material.
Manufacturer communications
Two dealer messages requested inspection of vehicles with headlight condensation. Bulletin 23-012 subsequently described how contact with a body panel could separate the lens adhesive and permit moisture entry. Its August 2023 revision calls for replacement of the affected assembly and adjustment of the clearance. It identifies all trims of the covered ILX years, with different parts for A-Spec and other trims. Photograph persistent moisture and ask the dealer to record the inspection and bulletin version used; do not assume every instance of condensation has this cause.
Manufacturer communications
This series of dealer messages sought inspection opportunities or parts from vehicles with front suspension noise, including rattles and clunks. They are manufacturer information gathering messages, not 15 separate diagnosed defects or 15 recalls. A useful repair record identifies where the sound comes from, when it occurs and what the technician actually found.
Manufacturer communications
Repeated dealer messages requested parts from certain vehicles with a tire pressure monitoring light attributed to a faulty sensor. The messages share a research purpose and should not be counted as separate repair remedies. Keep the measured tire pressures, sensor findings and any replacement information together so the record distinguishes an actual pressure problem from a sensor concern.
Manufacturer communications
Two bulletin records concern a malfunction indicator light accompanied by U0155, a loss of communication with the gauge control module. Matching the recorded code is more useful than assuming that any dashboard warning is the same issue. Ask for the diagnostic printout and the repair procedure selected for the vehicle.
Manufacturer communications
The service news article discusses diagnostic code U3000-49 and a seat weight sensor troubleshooting tip. It emphasizes isolating the faulty component rather than replacing the SRS unit first. The entry is diagnostic guidance, not proof that a particular vehicle has an airbag defect.
Manufacturer communications
This service news entry explains why the EGR/VVT readiness group may remain incomplete when the VTEC monitor has not run under the required operating conditions. An incomplete readiness result does not, by itself, establish an engine failure. Preserve the inspection result and seek qualified diagnostic guidance rather than trying to reproduce demanding operating conditions yourself.
Consumer allegations
Three complaint identifiers describe moisture in headlight assemblies; two closely similar reports were received on the same date. They must not be treated as three independently verified vehicles or as a measured failure rate. The reports are allegations, and their proposed causes and safety conclusions have not been adopted here.
Consumer allegations
Two reports describe acceleration or shifting difficulties accompanied by other warnings or symptoms. Their narratives are not identical and do not establish a shared cause. The first report says the dealer could not reproduce the event. The value for an owner is the reminder to preserve the conditions, warning messages and diagnostic outcome rather than treating a complaint as a confirmed repair finding.
Model year 2022
For the 2022 ILX, the indexed manufacturer material is concentrated in headlight moisture, tire pressure sensor concerns and emissions monitor readiness. Unlike the 2021 material above, this year’s index does not include the suspension message series or the gauge communication bulletins. Keep the year distinction when discussing a proposed diagnosis with the dealer.
Manufacturer communications
The headlight records progress from inspection requests in late 2022 to Bulletin 23-012 and its August 2023 revision. The bulletin covers the 2022 ILX, all trims, and describes moisture associated with interference between a headlight and body panel. It specifies assembly replacement and clearance adjustment, with trim specific part differences. A technician must determine whether that explanation fits the actual vehicle.
Manufacturer communications
These messages include the 2022 ILX in requests to collect parts associated with a tire pressure monitoring light and a faulty sensor. They document manufacturer information gathering, not a universal repair instruction. Ask the repair facility to distinguish the tire pressure reading from a sensor fault and retain its test results.
Manufacturer communications
The service news record explains how VTEC monitoring is included in the EGR/VVT readiness group and why some driving patterns may leave that group incomplete for a smog inspection. This is not the same as a confirmed engine defect. Bring the actual readiness report to a qualified technician for vehicle specific guidance.
Repair chronology
Place the final repair orders in date and mileage order. Compare the customer complaint, technician findings, correction, and post-repair result instead of relying only on a dealer summary or online discussion.
Keep visits marked “could not duplicate,” “operating as designed,” or “no fault found.” Those entries may still show that the concern was reported and that an opportunity to inspect was provided.
California legal framework
California Civil Code section 1793.2 addresses warranty repair obligations and, in specified circumstances, replacement or restitution after a reasonable number of repair attempts. Section 1793.22 defines the Tanner presumption and “nonconformity.” Those provisions require a fact-specific analysis.
Identify the written coverage in effect when the concern was presented.
Show when and how the manufacturer or authorized facility received the vehicle.
Document the effect on use, value, or safety rather than relying on labels.
Compare restitution, replacement, negotiated resolutions, offsets, and supporting damages.
Warranty and escalation record
A manufacturer warranty, certified coverage, dealer promise, and separately purchased service contract may have different obligors and terms. Preserve each document instead of calling all coverage an “extended warranty.”
Save every Acura dealer message, repair authorization, parts-delay explanation, manufacturer case number, and written response. A phone call may matter, but a dated email, text, or letter usually makes the sequence easier to prove.

Clear answers
It may, but the model name alone does not decide eligibility. A review should match the exact vehicle to an applicable written warranty and examine the repair opportunities, recurring nonconformity, mileage, downtime, and effect on use, value, or safety.
There is no universal count that decides every case. California’s Tanner presumption describes specific circumstances, but claims can require a broader analysis of whether the manufacturer had a reasonable opportunity to repair the warranty problem.
No. Recall, campaign, complaint, or bulletin information may provide context, but it does not prove the condition exists in this vehicle or establish a lemon law claim. Use VIN-specific information and the actual repair record.
Keep the purchase or lease agreement, warranty booklet, every final repair order, current registration and payoff information, photographs or videos, towing and rental records, and dealer or manufacturer messages and case numbers.
Possibly. The answer depends on the transaction, vehicle history, warranty that applied, timing of the repair visits, and other facts. A used or leased vehicle should be evaluated from its own documents.
Depending on the facts and current law, possible outcomes can include restitution or repurchase, replacement, a negotiated cash resolution, warranty relief, incidental damages, or other remedies. No particular outcome is guaranteed.
